What it is

A virtual private server (VPS) is a form of web hosting that uses data centre facilities to allow clients to connect to a dedicated physical PC or MAC to carry out their trading. Think of it as a computer in a data centre that only has MT4 or MT5 installed and is used by a client solely for the purpose of trading.

The benefits include:

  • The computer never turns off, so it allows for 24-hour operation;

  • Because of this, clients can use Expert Advisors (EAs) 24/7 without interruptions, which is not ideal on conventional PCs;

  • They are not affected by local power outages;

  • Private and secure, and;

  • Minimises slippage as they are higher-performing than standard servers and computers.

How to access

A VPS is usually accessed through the Microsoft Remote Desktop Program (RDP). This program comes pre-installed on all Windows computers and can be downloaded from the App Store on Mac.

Blueberry-sponsored VPS

Blueberry can provide a sponsored VPS to clients trading at least 15 standard lots every calendar month. If the requirement is unmet, a charge of $20.00 will apply, pro-rated, depending on the lots traded and the number of days remaining for the month. The charge may be deducted from the client's trading account balance or paid externally.

As the lot requirement is not calculated until the end of the month, we initially require an account balance of at least $100 USD or the equivalent currency.
