How do I access and export the Journal logs from MT4/MT5?

This article explains how to access the Journal logs from MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) on mobile devices and how to export them on PC/Mac.

Journal logs record platform activity such as login attempts, connection status, Expert Advisor activity, and system messages. These logs are often requested by our Support or Trade Investigation team when troubleshooting platform-related issues.

Accessing Journal logs on MT4/MT5 Mobile Application (iOS and Android)

Journal logs can also be viewed in the MT4/MT5 mobile applications. However, Journal logs cannot be exported directly from the mobile app.

If our Support or Trade Investigation team requests your Journal logs from a mobile device, please provide screenshots instead.

  1. Open the MT4 or MT5 mobile app.

  2. Open the Journal section from the app menu (☰) .

  3. Navigate to the relevant date and time by clicking the calendar icon at the upper-right corner of the screen..

  4. Take a screenshot showing the Journal entries related to the issue.

  5. Attach the screenshot(s) to your email or support ticket and send them to our team.

Exporting Journal logs on MT4/MT5 (PC/Mac)

  1. Open your MT4 or MT5 platform.

  2. Click the Terminal window (MT4) or Toolbox window (MT5) at the bottom of the platform. If it is not visible, press Ctrl + T.

  3. Select the Journal tab.

  4. Right-click anywhere inside the Journal window.

  5. Click Open (or Open Folder, depending on your platform version).

  6. The platform will open the folder containing the Journal log files.

  7. Locate the log file for the required date.

  8. Attach the file to your email or support ticket and send it to our team.

Important: Please make sure the screenshots clearly show the date, time, and relevant Journal entries. If the issue occurred over a longer period, you may need to provide multiple screenshots.
